The cyber criminals are winning. Individuals and organizations are losing the computer security battle. The annual dollar amount being stolen by cyber criminals now exceeds the total amount of money brought in globally by illegal trade. This fact is stunning! What can be done?
Individuals and organizations must take pre-emptive action. This can only be done, in the author's opinion, when a security mind-set is developed by users and an organization implements a culture of information security.
The changes brought to us by electronic devices are phenomenal. Computers, tablets and smart phones have changed the way we do business and live. The invention and use of modern day digital implements have had far reaching consequences that are in the same earth-shattering league as the discovery of fire and its implication. We still have to exercise care to safely harness and use fire. Otherwise significant property losses and even lives can be lost.
A business must systematically protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of its information assets. This can only be done when securing digital assets become a "business process". Not everyone can afford to buy a new computer as soon as the old one becomes - well... old. A new computer may not be in your budget right now, or you may be, just like me, waiting for Windows 9 to come out to make a purchase.
Whichever may be the case, you are going to be stuck for some time with an old, slow (... and getting slower each day), computer. What can be done to make your current computing experience more pleasant? How to speed up your old computer?
First, some people are going to tell you that your computer is running slowly because you have accumulated a lot of documents and pictures on your hard drive. Don't listen to them: except in extreme cases, this has nothing to do with your computer running slower than it should. Still, it is a good idea to perform computer maintenance from time to time: run disc cleaner and defragmentation, uninstall any programs you no longer need.
Saving all your files on your desktop is a bad habit, because a lot of memory that could be better used for other purposes is now used to render all those icons every time you see it. Clean up your e-mail client's folders to make it run faster and prevent hanging and crashing. (Obviously, this doesn't apply if you are using web mail.) Clear your browser's cache to speed it up. Clean the temporary files as well.
Manage which programs load every time you start your computer. If it takes an eternity for your computer to boot up, there are probably some things in your startup folder which are not necessary. Second, are you on a wireless network? Did you know that when a computer is on a wireless network, file transfer speeds are slower? This can cause issues with gaming, streaming, and video chats. Wiring computers up with Ethernet can make your internet connection more reliable and thus speedier.
Finally, there could be a malware infection going on, making your computer sluggish. Make sure you regularly run anti-virus and spyware programs. To avoid conflicts, there should be only one anti-virus installed and running at any time! Don't neglect Windows Update neither (make updates install automatically)!

How To Handle A Problem

Although this is a metaphorical article about computers and technology, it is an article mostly about the technology between our ears that we seldom use to capacity. This will be a sort of Mark Twain/Samuel Clemens type article about technology in relation to that. A cell that holds data can be compared to a microchip. It is a funny thing, but microchips are literally crude versions of cells, especially brain cells that hold thousands of more times data than microchips.
So, within that memory and knowledge I say here, is the answers to all of our questions and problems ultimately, and there are not any real pedagogical infinities or teaching infinities or learning infinities in existence. But, there is a catch: That knowledge reality only happens if we use our knowledge well and right to solve problems, not make them.
Computers think, people think. People do not have to think in specified and complex seeming language though. They think in words and pictures instead of in complex math equations, and geometry strings. But everything that has consciousness does think. When thoughts are correct, problems are solved. When thoughts are wrong, it does not matter how "right" they seem when you do the wrong thing, problems are made.
Albert Einstein once almost combined these realities into a unified field with his relativity equation saying that energy and matter are interchangeable forces. But, that cannot be actualized until all thought is understood and all "pedagogical infinities" are exhausted, and the full scope of reality is realized as the unified order that it is instead of the disunity and chaos that it is not.
In short, put the puzzle together and you have solved it. Take the puzzle apart, and you just have pieces that need to go together.
When it all gets put together, and not just "come together", that is when the puzzle is genuinely solved in every way. There are not any problems without solutions or realistic answers to them, otherwise they would not be problems.
So, here is my personal belief at the end of this article: Problems make existence better especially when their solutions advance reality. In computers, the fastest way to get a solution is by utilizing problems, understanding them and creating advantages past them. It works the same way in our lives also. So, the best way to make a new discovery is to "work out the problems" or solve problems.
